View More15/05/2015 On my mower (Craftsman 247.37037 with Briggs Stratton engine), it was a matter of replacing the choke thermostat -- it wasn't sensitive enough any more to fully push the air vane forward. It requires removing the blower housing and cover and the muffler, but takes less than 20
View More26/04/2015 It does not smoke, skip, or anything like that - just seems to get revved up to about 1/2 speed, and won't rev no higher. When I put the throttle on high it seems just about 1/2 speed, and as I decrease the speed on the throttle the motor revs stays the same until I get to about 1/2 speed, then it decreases and as I lower it some more; then it will just dies. Never smokes, coughs, or sputters.

Your battery can charge just fine at 1 quarter or half throttle. While running an engine at full throttle can cool it better it decreases the life span of the engine.
